A festival market for the whole family
We have often referred to the after-race survey in our race update videos. For us, it's simply the source to make the race even better with your feedback.
In today's video update with Kathrin and Felix, this time it's all about the race week program. You can look forward to a completely new area that invites you to linger with entertainment, children's activities and healthy food.
New food court with a healthier offering
First of all, we would like to inform you that some things are changing in the food court area. This year, things didn't go quite as we'd hoped, but don't worry - we're listening to your feedback! The catering service will be completely changed and we can assure you that you will be able to enjoy a much healthier and more athletic offering from Thursday to Sunday.
Thank you for ten years of Challenge Women
But that's not all - the race week program is also undergoing some changes. 10 years ago, the idea of Challenge Women as part of the event was simply fine. The aim was always to get more women into sport and triathlon. However, we now have a different feeling and you have often mirrored this. We took your comments very seriously, in which we were told that a women's-only 5km race as part of a long-distance event is perceived by many to mean that the women are only seen as a kind of appendage to the men.
We definitely don't want to give this impression and, in the interests of gender equality, we have jointly decided that there will no longer be a Challenge Women as part of DATEV Challenge Roth from 2024. This decision was not easy for us, because we had a great time together with the organizers Moni Fiedler, Julia Moll and Steffi Spieß. However, the sharp drop in the number of participants after the coronavirus pandemic ultimately confirmed our decision. We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to Moni and her team, who have supported us for many years.
What can you expect next year?
Instead of Challenge Women, there will be a place for everyone! We want to create an area that brings together participants, trade fair exhibitors, supporters, the public and volunteers - a place to linger, take a break, enjoy, relax and come together.
New Festival Market for everyone
We are currently developing a Festival Market in the former Challenge Women area. Here you can expect a large food area with healthy food, fun for children, an obstacle course, face painting and a small central stage for live stories, interviews, live music and yoga sessions, for example. Everything is still in flux at the moment, but we will update you regularly on our channels.
The world's largest triathlon expo is also waiting for you from Thursday to Monday around the race.
A sporty race week for everyone who enjoys exercise
Of course, we want to continue to offer you an attractive program of sporting activities. For all those who would like to be active outside of the race during the race week, we once again have the free Night Run on Thursday and the Bambinirun for kids. Also free for everyone is the Morning Run on Friday morning and the swim sessions on Friday and Saturday with our partner ZONE3. The Challenge-forAll and the Junior Challenge offer various triathlon short distances for everyone. We will of course publish the exact schedule in good time before the event.
We look forward to implementing this new, inclusive concept with you and creating unforgettable moments together.
