A new emotional race finale
Spectacular finish line show for the 20th anniversary of Challenge
The evening hours of race day provide spectators and athletes with goosebumps year after year. When it's night and the last finisher enters the stadium with the torch, the stadium is electric. The grand finale of the race is a newly designed finish line show this year after the race finish at 11:05pm.
DATEV Challenge Roth powered by hep, which was honoured as the most sustainable race as part of the Challenge Family Awards 2021, will also take its responsibility in this area into account in this year’s final show.
Choreographed laser show for more sustainability
The aerial fireworks have been drastically reduced and shortened to two minutes and in order to avoid waste, no sparklers will be distributed to stadium visitors for the first time this year. A spectacle of a different kind is planned with the new show lasting 12 minutes in total with 80% of it a choreographed laser and fire show complemented with epic music.
"It's a difficult balancing act for us. We want to avoid waste and unnecessary emissions as much as possible and continue to be pioneers in this area. At the same time, it is our aim to offer the athletes and triathlon fans an emotional end to race day. They deserve it,” explains Kathrin Walchshöfer-Helneder, who organises the finish line show. “For us, this new show is a birthday present. We are looking forward to it and invite everyone to come to the triathlon stadium in Roth by 9:00pm at the latest and celebrate the end of the day with us with this emotional highlight.”
