Live for over nine hours
Great news for all triathlon and sports fans. On 3 July, BR Fernsehen will broadcast large parts of the race live on TV and in entirety on the web. From start to finish, all Challenge fans can follow the race without interruption, without missing anything. From 6:15am to 3:30pm, Bayerischer Rundfunk will broadcast live on television, with a two-hour break from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. In addition, the BR reports on all of its channels from the triathlon spectacle in Roth throughout race day and during the days surrounding the race.
“Triathlon in Roth is not only something very special for the region. It is also always a special challenge for BR to go the long distance and broadcast nine hours of the Franconian spectacle on television and in the live stream. We're looking forward to the unique atmosphere in Roth, which we're happy to deliver to people’s homes,” says Christoph Netzel, head of sports at Bayerischer Rundfunk.
Kathrin Walchshöfer-Helneder, managing director of TEAMCHALLENGE: “This year there will definitely be many emotional moments on course and in the stadium. We're celebrating 20 years of Challenge in Roth and at last Solarer Berg and the many hotspots along the entire course are coming back. That's why we're so pleased BR Fernsehen is transporting the challenge feeling for all those interested in sports in Bavaria and all parts of Germany."
Challenge will be broadcast live and without interruption on the web and can be viewed at www.br24sport.de, www.sportschau.de and, of course, at www.challenge-roth.com. There is also an English live stream for international viewers, commentated by Roth legend, Belinda Granger, as well as a finish line cam that shows the finish line of the participants throughout the day.
The race will take place on 3 July 2022 without covid restrictions. The race starts with a 3.8 km swim in the Main-Danube Canal, continues with a two-lap bike course over 180 km through the Roth triathlon region and finally a marathon. The event is taking place for the 20th time under the Challenge brand.
