Roth back in focus: Ironman world champion Laura Philipp to compete in DATEV Challenge Roth again in 2025
Roth as the ‘most atmospheric triathlon in the world’
The race on 6 July 2025 has once again attracted the best in the world. None other than the reigning Ironman World Champion Laura Philipp has confirmed her participation in DATEV Challenge Roth 2025. She will compete in the Franconian triathlon mecca for the third time in a row and is one of the top favourites to win.
After third place in 2023 and second place in 2024, the question is: is 2025 her year in Roth? Philipp is travelling to Roth with a tailwind after her impressive triumph at the 2024 Ironman World Championship in Nice, where she completed the 3.8 km swim, 180 km bike ride and 42.2 km run in 8:45:15.
‘The event in Germany’
‘3, 2, ? - do good things come in threes for me in Roth? I would like to try my luck again at the Challenge in Roth in 2025. It's the event in Germany and the most atmospheric triathlon in the world. I'm looking forward to the race!’ says Laura Philipp.
Personal best time in Roth
With her personal best time of 8:14:13, which she set in Roth in 2024, she is one of the fastest triathletes of all time and could reach new heights in 2025. She set the time last year when she took second place at DATEV Challenge Roth. This is the third-fastest time ever set by a female athlete on the long-distance triathlon course.
Race director, Felix Walchshöfer, and the entire triathlon district of Roth can once again look forward to the likeable athlete from Heidelberg: ‘Laura is an incredible athlete with a fantastic development over the last few years. With her victory in Nice, she has finally put the crown on her head. And she has also proven her top class in Roth in the last two races. We as the organisers are proud she will compete with us again, and the triathlon district and all fans of the sport can look forward to an absolute world class competition in Roth once again,’ said Walchshöfer.
In addition to her successes at DATEV Challenge Roth and the Ironman World Championship, Philipp has already won six Ironman races. She has won the Ironman European Championships twice and the Ironman 70.3 a total of 17 times.
In Roth, Philipp not only brings her world-class athleticism, but also the knowledge of the special challenge of the Roth course. She is very familiar with the legendary atmosphere on Solarer Berg, the fast running sections along the canal and the traditional finish line in the triathlon stadium.
At DATEV Challenge Roth, Laura Philipp will meet the 2022 runner-up Fenella Langridge as well as World Championship fifth-placed Nikki Bartlett, middle distance expert Grace Thek and Roth icon Laura Siddall, among others.
