Ultrasound device for Ukraine children's hospital
Last entries for DATEV Challenge Roth powered by hep 2023 awarded at traditional Christmas charity event within 40 seconds
On 6 December at 12:00 noon sharp, registration opened once again to award the last places for DATEV Challenge Roth powered by hep 2023. This year, TEAMCHALLENGE awarded 300 individual entries at the traditional Christmas event - more than ever before - with the slots selling out within 40 seconds.
Athletes help Ukraine
50 euros from each registration for the race on 25 June 2023, will be donated to a good cause, as every year. For Kathrin Walchshöfer-Helneder it was clear that the money from the Christmas campaign should go to children in need. "We want to support a cause which touches us personally. After several months of war, unfortunately, there is still no end in sight to the Russian aggression in Ukraine. The money from the Christmas campaign will go where it is urgently needed - directly to a children's hospital in the war-torn country."
The donations were used to purchase a mobile ultrasound machine for the Zolochiv Central District Hospital in western Ukraine.
Ultrasound scanner already in use
The donation aid is being handled by Eric Juergensen's Ukraine Aid. He has lived in Roth for 15 years. Juergensen has already made several trips to Ukraine since the outbreak of the war, delivering medical supplies worth more than €1 million directly to Ukrainian hospitals in his own vehicle.
"In order to get the ultrasound device to Ukraine as quickly as possible, we advanced the money for the purchase," Walchshöfer-Helneder said. “The device is already in use at the hospital in Zolochiv. We think that such an essential commitment is worthy of immediate support. We say thank you to all athletes who supported this project through their participation."
Registration for DATEV Challenge Roth powered by hep 2023 sold out within 90 seconds in July. At the Christmas event every year, the last entries are assigned, made up of returned allocations from partners and tour operators and cancellations from athletes who have made use of the all-round carefree package in order to fulfil their Roth dream in 2024.
