‘Winning in Roth would be a dream’ - Ironman World Champion Sam Laidlow starts at DATEV Challenge Roth 2025
The triathlon world can look forward to another absolute highlight: 2023 IRONMAN World Champion Sam Laidlow will compete at DATEV Challenge Roth on 6 July 2025. With his participation, the race promises an even higher-calibre field of participants.
The 26-year-old Frenchman, who was crowned the youngest Ironman World Champion in history in Nice in 2023, is considered one of the strongest athletes over the long distance. He is now taking on the legendary course in Roth for the second time since 2023. At his first start, he fought a long duel for victory. After problems on the run course, he finished a very respectable eighth.
‘Next to the Ironman World Championship, the most important race of the season’
For Laidlow, Roth is an absolute highlight in the 2025 race calendar: ‘Alongside the Ironman World Championship, Challenge Roth is the most important race of the season. A win in Roth would be a dream’.
Race director Felix Walchshöfer is also enthusiastic: ‘Sam is one of the most exciting athletes in the triathlon world. We are delighted that he has chosen Roth again and are looking forward to the duels with the other top stars.’
Last year, the Nice winner mainly raced the T100 distance of the Professional Triathletes Organisation. He won the T100 London and came second in Ibiza. At Ironman Hawaii 2024, he put in a top performance, especially in the swim and bike, and dominated the race for a long time.
