‘Would like to be on the podium at least’
He was the best German in Roth in 2024 - Jan Stratmann is returning to the Home of Triathlon in 2025. After an impressive fourth place last year, in which he only just missed out on the podium, the 29-year-old wants to fight for the top places again in Roth and further improve his performance over the prestigious long distance.
27 seconds off the podium in 2024
Last year, Stratmann missed the podium by just 27 seconds after a 3.8 km swim, 180 km bike ride and 42.2 km run. He finished fourth in the Roth triathlon stadium in 07:38:57.
‘I still have a score to settle’
This year, Jan Stratmann is focussing on races that motivate and excite him: ‘Roth is a very special race for me, with an atmosphere that cannot be compared to any other triathlon. When I think back to last year, I still get goosebumps from the finish and the climb up the Solarer Berg. But I still have a score to settle with this race after my close 4th place last year. I want to at least finish on the podium this year!’
Jan Stratmann made a name for himself at international level in 2023 as third at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships and in 2024 with a strong fourth place in Roth, proving his class over the long distance. He showed once again in October 2024 that he is a force to be reckoned with when he won the Ironman Barcelona in a new course record of 7:28:25.
