The Race

Spectator routes

DATEV Challenge Roth is a huge event with lots of hot spots. But how do you get from A to B and how do you get to see as much of the race as possible? We have worked out three different routes for you to experience and enjoy the race day in different ways!

Route 1

5.45 a.m.

Park your car at a parking lot at the swim start (Google Maps "Challenge Roth swim parking P3") and then head to the swim start, the first goosebump experience of the day. The starting signal for the first starting group with the top athletes is given at exactly 6.35 am. There are places with a good view along both banks of the canal or on the bridge (be there in good time!)

8.00 a.m.

On foot to the "Solarer Berg", the most famous hot spot on the bike course (via Allersberger Straße into the city, walk through the city center and always follow the crowds, approx. 25 minutes on foot). The men's cycling peak is expected at Solarer Berg at 8.59 am. Afterwards, there will be enough time to enjoy the incomparable atmosphere and take a breakfast break.

10.30 a.m.

On foot back to the parking lot in Heuberg and by car via Allersberg to Roth. Park at the parking lot Gewerbegebiet I and II (Gildesstraße 1, 91154 Roth). A spectator shuttle departs from there (Station 5) approx. every 15 minutes.

11:30 a.m.

Hop on the spectator shuttle and off you go to Lände Roth (station 6) on the canal directly on the running course. At the running course hot spot Lände there is now the opportunity to cheer on the athletes during their marathon.

13:00

Back on the spectator shuttle and this time get off at station 4 (Münchener Straße). From there it is a short (approx. eight minute) walk to the triathlon park. Now relax a little, take a look at the stands at the Triathlon Expo, eat and drink and then secure your seats in the triathlon stadium in good time. The men's winner is expected to enter the stadium at around 1.59 pm. A moment not to be missed! The female Challenge winner will cross the finish line at around 2.45 pm.

Now you can take your time to walk around the many atmosphere nests along the running course or/and take the shuttle bus to Büchenbach and the Lände.

Route 2

5.45 a.m.

Park the car at the Heuberg parking lot and then to the swim start, the starting signal is given at 6.35 am. Secure a place on the bridge (from there it is not far to the car). There is enough time to watch the first three to four starting groups.

7.15 a.m.

Back to the parking lot. By car to the southern district of Greding. This is where the longest and toughest climb of the bike course is located and the popular hot spot on the Kalvarienberg, the "mountain of suffering". The easy way to get there: Head towards Allersberg as far as the road onto the A9, drive up towards Munich as far as the Greding exit. In Greding, park in the town center and then walk (2-3 minutes) to the Kalvarienberg. The men's bike tops are expected there for the first time at 8:13 am, on the second bike lap the tops will pass by at 10:05 am.

10.15 a.m.

Walk back to the car and take the exit to Roth (A9 towards Nuremberg to the Allersberg exit, then state road 2237). Park in the city center (see section "Arrivals and Shuttles"), from there it is an approx. 8-minute walk to transition area 2 on Hilpoltsteiner Straße.

11.22 a.m.

The timing is perfect again: the top men are expected in transition area 2 at 11.22 am. You can experience the top athletes' transition from cycling to running up close. And already start to speculate...

12.00 noon

We continue on foot to the triathlon park (finish area), a walk of about eight minutes. On the way there is still time to watch the passing athletes at the junction Hilpoltsteiner Straße / Am Espan and cheer them on. They could really use some encouragement now!

1.45 pm

You should be sitting in the stands in the triathlon stadium by now at the latest, because this year's Challenge winner will be welcomed at the finish line shortly (1.59 pm)!

Later

Now you can take your time to walk around the many hot spots along the course or/and take the shuttle bus to Büchenbach and the Lände (see section "Spectator shuttle")

Special tips for all three tours

Suggestion for the afternoon:

From the finish area in the triathlon stadium, it is only an eight-minute walk to Roth town center or a short ride on the shuttle bus to Lände and Büchenbach. There are a lot of hot spots along the route!

Catering:

There is a wide range of food and drink on offer at all the refreshment stops along the bike and run course. Cool drinks, barbecue specialties, veal sausages, coffee and cake and much more guarantee the best catering for spectators. You will also find many different food trucks with a healthy selection at the Festival Market in the Triathlon Park.

Must-Have:

If you haven't been to the finishline party with fireworks, you haven't been to DATEV Challenge Roth! The evening happening from around 9 pm in the triathlon stadium is an absolute must. The last finishers are literally "carried" across the finish line by the spectators, and the atmosphere is heated up by the enthusiasm of the crowds. After the official finish at 11.20 pm, a gigantic, music-synchronized firework display crowns the long but wonderful day.
